About the college
Coleg Llandrillo is a large general Further and Higher Education College situated on the North Wales Coast covering the counties of Denbighshire and Conwy. It offers provision at all levels and across all curriculum areas. There are over 23,000 students enrolled on courses in the College and the majority of students are over 19. There is a strong 14- 19 cohort studying a range of courses including A levels and the International Baccalaureate.
The College has achieved outstanding Estyn inspection results in 2005 and has achieved a number of accolades and awards.

Of special note
Delivery models The college follows a system of integrated involvement where students recruited onto particular programmes of study are required to follow the Welsh Bac as an integrated part of their programme of study.
The college has a decentralised model rather than a single model of delivery. Each WBQ course in the college has adopted its own model for delivering the programme. It had been easier to integrate KS into vocational courses rather than A level.
IT and Communications have been integrated into the Individual Investigation in some programmes. Internet searches and word processing of the end product met some IT requirements, while good expression in writing met COMMS.
Integrating Application of Number had been more challenging, and it was seen fit to teach AON in discrete sessions as a more effective means of developing such knowledge in students in a short space of time.
Working with Others was considered to be integrated into WBQ content.
On some programmes Problem Solving was carried out during Enterprise Week. The students were asked to carry out a number of tasks, such as building tasks to solve a particular problem.
IOLP was realised through the personal tutorial system, with an attempt to link it to the Individual Investigation planned for the future.
Integration of KS into content areas was viewed as a way to run the programme more effectively.
Tracking was seen as a major issue and was an area to consider for the next year. A tracking system has now been developed for implementation. One WBQ course had devised a way to track all BTEC units into a KS matrix. These were to be 'tweaked' for next year. Log books have been revised to clarify difference between Intermediate and Advanced.
