About the school

The school has circa 1500 pupils, of which approximately 250 are in the Sixth Form.

Staff delivering the WBQ

We have a WBQ steering group involving key staff, including a member of the senior management team. This group meets weekly for planning and evaluation purposes. Some of the key staff involved are as follows:

Ross Thomas WBQ Co-ordinator
Sian Winslade Assistant WBQ Co-ordinator
Jackie Evans WBQ Administrator
H. Jones Senior Management link

We also have a team of around sixteen learning coaches who act as tutor/mentors and also deliver the WBQ programme.

Students

All students in the years groups study for the WBQ Advanced Diploma alongside their AS/A Levels.

Of special note....

Personal interviews take place each morning in our Sixth Form Centre. Each student has at least one personal interview each half term.

All students attend one formal WBQ session each week. In addition students attend a two-day residential induction course based at a local university.

We hold a WBQ week for Year 12 in the Summer Term as part of which we run a three day enterprise activity (Internet Business course).

We collapse the Sixth Form timetable when necessary for outside speakers or courses e.g. WEW 'President For A Day' actvity or PSE drama production 'Too Much Punch For Judy'.

All key skills are integrated across the WBQ Core.

We did this...

  • Refugees and asylum seekers
  • Report on a Dysg project: WBQ and WEW
